A summer to remember | Family Summer Bucket List Freebie

Summer has always been my favorite season. I love the sunshine, the longer days, and the laid back vibes. I do what I can to make our summers fun, now that I have a toddler I seem to constantly be looking for new ways to burn off all that energy. When the sun is out you can find us playing in the sprinkler, or splashing at the pool. When it's rainy, or we need a break from the sun we head to the museum or library. Last summer we even went to our first movie! Tip: Lots of theaters to summer movie programs where tickets are as low as a dollar, so even if your little only makes it 20 minutes, you aren't out a whole ticket fee.

As my toddler grows, I find the days are busier than ever. While I love our routine, I like to shake it up with some new, fun activities in the summertime. Activities that help us beat the heat, and just make this season a little more special. This year I decided to start a new tradition of putting together a "Summer Bucket List" of some of our favorite things, along with a few new activities we want to try! From trips to the beach, to camping in the backyard, there's some really fun, easy, and even budget-friendly activities to cross off. If you have older kids, it would be fun to have them name a few things they want to do for the summer. I'm excited to see how our list grows over the years and what things make the list year after year.

The list can even make for a fun photo project, snap a picture of each of your activities and compile them in a photo book at the end. Last summer I did a 100 Days of Summer project where I attempted to document our everyday summer fun from Memorial Day-thru Labor Day. It was a fun way to capture this sweet, but short time (re: the days are long, but the years are short). At the end of the summer, I simply compiled all our pictures in to a Chatbook, which has become one of my favorite/easy/inexpensive ways to print my photos! Seriously, you can do it straight from your phone! (Click here to use my referral code and get $10 off your first Chatbooks order).

I read somewhere recently that we only get 18 summers with our kiddos. Probably less than that, think about those teen years when they'll probably be way more interested in hanging with their friends, than playing with sparklers and sprinklers in the backyard. My hope is that this list will keep me focused on making summer a little more fun, and not just getting caught up in the day-to-day. I also love having the photos to hold on to and remember all these sweet, sweet, summertime memories!

What are some of your summer traditions? Is there anything on your families bucket list for the summer??

Are you planning a summer reunion, block party, or getting the cousin crew together? Maybe you just really love summer evenings on the porch watching the kids run through the sprinklers! Whatever that might be, let me come and beautifully capture those memories for you.  I am offering Summer Porch Sessions! These sessions  are held at your home, or where ever you are having your summer fun, that will document what you love best about summer!
